Softball Snaps Three Game Skid with Split Against SBVC

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a split against San Bernardino Valley College at home in a non-conference showing on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs struggled in the opener with an 11-2 loss, which included a seven-run showing for the Wolverines in the sixth frame. Danica Black led the way for the home squad by driving in both of AHC's runs in the fifth frame while working towards a 2-for-3 showing at the plate, but was charged with a loss in the circle six innings in the circle. She surrendered 11 earned runs after scattering 18 hits and striking out one batter.

Coach Maumausolo's crew bounced back in game two by rattling off five runs in the second inning en route to an early lead. Khaelii Robertson-Mack got things started with a single up the middle that plated one before Kaylee Dolores drove in another. Shayla Bautista and Black followed with a pair of RBIs before Delayna Quezada sent the final runner home with a double to center field. SBVC got on the board with one run in the third, but the Bulldogs answered in the bottom of the frame with two tallies on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly. San Bernardino managed to score three more runs through the final two innings but was stopped short on the comeback attempt.

Quezada picked up her seventh win on the rubber after a complete seven-inning showing. She struck out four batters while allowing three earned runs on nine hits.

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Tuesday, March 19th, with a trip to Oxnard College for a WSC North showing.
