Marquez & Perez Homer as Softball Blanks Corsairs, 20-0

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team needed just five innings to put away Santa Monica College on the road en route to a 20-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (18-16, 7-4) rattled off 13 runs through the first two frames after scoring seven in the opener and six in the second. They continued on with three runs apiece in both the fourth and fifth innings before Maggie Perez sent a shot over the left-center fence for the lone run in the fifth. 

Hancock managed to tally 15 hits on the day, despite being walked 12 times by the Corsairs (3-15, 2-9) pitching crew. Kaylee Dolores had a day at the plate with a perfect 3-for-3 showing, which included four RBIs. Jonessa Marquez also drove in four runs on the day with three coming after a homer to right field. Khaelii Robertson-Mack and Rianna Dulay also had multi-base hits with a triple and a double, respectively. 

Delayna Quezada picked up her 11th win of the season in the circle after twirling a complete-game shutout. She struck out two batters and surrendered two hits through the full five frames.

The Bulldogs are set to continue WSC play with a road trip to Ventura College on Thursday, April 18th. Coach Maumausolo's squad, which has two games left on the regular season docket, is currently tied for third in the WSC North standings with Santa Barbara City College.
