Hancock basketball players receive Western State Conference honorable mention
Four Allan Hancock College basketball players have been selected to the Western State Conference Honorable Mention team. Freshmen Chrissy Bessermin (Orcutt, CA) and Ashley Bonenfant (Lompoc, CA) were selected from the women’s team and sophomores Darion Capers (Dayton, OH ) and Sean Kelly represent the men’s team.
Bonenfant, a guard from Cabrillo High School, averaged 13.7 points a game and was ranked seventh in scoring in the northern Western State Conference with 149 total points for the season. She also averaged 1.9 assists and 2.2 steals per game throughout the season. Bessermin, a forward from Righetti High School, was ranked 16th in the conference in scoring with 97 total points and averaged 5.2 rebounds per game.
On the men’s side, returning starter Capers, originally from Dayton, Ohio, averaged 9.9 points per game for the Bulldogs. Kelly, a forward from Lemoore, Calif., averaged 9.4 points per game and 6.4 rebounds
