
Hancock Women Fall to Glendale 63-40
The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team dropped its opening game at the College of Sequoias Crossover 63-40 to Glendale on Friday night. The Bulldogs, under first-year head coach Cary Nerelli, dropped to 1-1 on the season Sequoias improved to 2-0.
Hancock trailed 23-13 at the half before it was outscored 40-27 in the final twenty minutes.
Freshman guard Ali Rodriguez led the Bulldogs with 10 points in the loss. The Pioneer Valley High School graduate paced Hancock in its season-opening win on Tuesday with 36 points.
Lompoc High School graduate Celina Calderon added 7 points. Sophomore forward Justine Roland led the Bulldogs with 10 rebounds, including five offensive boards. The Righetti High graduate also chipped in 4 points. Emma Weinreich added 6 points and 7 rebounds.
The Bulldogs struggled at the free throw line and made just 16 of their 37 attempts for a 43 percent mark.
Hancock returns to action against Lassen at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
