Rodriguez Leads Bulldogs to 65-33 Victory over LA Southwest

Ali Rodriguez scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Allan Hancock College women's basketball team to a 65-33 win over LA Southwest during day two of a tournament hosted by West Hills-Lemoore on Saturday.

The Bulldogs rebounded from a nine-point loss to Modesto on Friday to improve to 9-4 on the season. They face Mission College (5-7) in the consolation game at 12 p.m. on Sunday. 

Rodriguez was 9 for 11 from the field, including 5 for 7 from 3-point range to lead the charge. The freshman from Pioneer Valley High School pulled down 2 rebounds.

Justine Roland recorded another double-double with 14 points on 4 of 16 shooting to go with 12 rebounds. The sophomore forward pulled down 11 boards on the defensive end. Veronica Sua added 10 rebounds and 8 points. Emma Weinreich added 8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists for the Bulldogs. 

Hancock led 40-17 at the half and cruised from there. The Bulldogs controlled the boards and owned a 35-26 advantage. Each team committed 12 turnovers.

The Bulldogs made 22 of their 50 shots from the floor for a 44 percent clip. LA Southwest made 12 of its 41 shots for a 29.3 percentage. Hancock shot 80 percent from the free throw line by making 16 of its 20 shots from the charity stripe.
