
Roland, Sua Earn All-Conference Honors
Sophomores Justine Roland and Veronica Sua earned All-Western State Conference honors on Sunday. Roland was named to the Western State Conference North Division's First Team, while Sua earned honorable mention.
Roland, a Righetti High School graduate, was the Bulldogs' leading-rebounder at 9.1 per game, which also ranked fifth in the North Division. She ranked second on the team and 13th in the division at 12.8 points per game. Roland's top game was when she posted 20 points and 18 rebounds against Santa Barbara. She recorded nine double-doubles this season.
Sua, a St. Joseph High School graduate, averaged 8.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Her season-highs were 18 points against Hartnell and 13 rebounds against Mission. She tallied two double-doubles, including a 15 point, 12 rebound effort in Hancock's win at Canyons to close out the season.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Cary Nerelli, the Bulldogs finished the season 3-9 and tied for sixth in the Western State Conference standings. They also went 13-14 overall for the program's highest single-season win total since 2003.
Ventura won its 24th straight WSC title. Canyons' Keoina Mathews was named the conference's MVP. Ventura's Ned Mircetic earned Coach of the Year honors.
