Ramirez, Torres and Daher Lead Hancock Women To 90-40 Rout At Taft College

Syenna Ramirez, Marissa Torres, Ashley Daher and JJ Carlotti each set new career highs to lead the Allan Hancock College women's basketball team to a 90-40 win at Taft College on Wednesday evening. The 50-point win was the program's largest margin of victory in at least seven years. Head coach Cary Nerelli's team improved to 2-1, while the host Cougars dropped to 0-3.

Ramirez, a freshman guard, scored a career-high 28 points on 11 for 14 shooting from the field. The St. Joseph High School graduate added nine rebounds, including five offensive boards.  Ramirez scored 16 points in the first quarter to lead the Bulldogs to a 22-9 after the first quarter.

Torres, a sophomore guard, was 8 for 12 from the field, including 2 for 4 from three-point range to finish with 22 points. She topped her previous career high by three points. The Templeton High School graduate added three assists and two steals.

Daher was four for seven from the floor and buried seven of eight free throw attempts to finish with a career-high 15 points. Her previous top scoring night was 8 points. The sophomore forwarded added two steals, six rebounds and three assists.

Carlotti came off the bench to score all eight of her points in the second half. The St. Joseph High School graduate was a perfect 2 for 2 from the floor and 3 for 3 from the charity stripe.

Destinee Garcia finished with six points and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. She also collected three steals.

Freshmen Kelly McClain and Janessa Hernandez added five rebounds apiece. 

The Bulldogs were hot all night from the floor. They made 32 of 49 shots or 65 percent. Hancock also sank 23 of its 29 free throws or 79 percent.  Hancock also pulled down a season-high 50 rebounds, including 14 offensive boards. The Bulldogs collected 13 steals.

Hancock returns to action on Thursday, November 19, at LA Southwest. The game will begin at 6 p.m.
