McClain's Double-Double Not Enough, Bulldogs Fall at LA Pierce 58-51

Despite a double-double from freshman forward Kelly McClain, the Allan Hancock College women's basketball team lost a 58-51 conference game at L.A. Pierce on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs dropped their fifth straight to fall to 4-7 in Western State Conference play and 15-11 overall. L.A. Pierce won its first conference game of the season to improve to 1-9 in conference and 3-18 overall.

McClain earned her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds. The freshman had eight offensive rebounds and three blocked shots. McClain made five of her 11 shots from the field and five of eight free throws.

Syenna Ramirez was three for 14 from the field, including two for six from three-point range. The freshman finished with 10 points, four rebounds and four assists. 

Destinee Garcia had eight points and seven rebounds, while Michaila Miller and Janessa Hernandez had eight points apiece. Miller pulled down eight rebounds.

Hancock hit just 16 of its 50 shots from the field or 32 percent. The Bulldogs sank 17 of their 23 free throws for 74 percent. Pierce shot 46 percent overall and made five of its eight shots from three-point range. The Brahmas had 11 steals.

The Bulldogs close out the season on Wednesday, February 17, at Cuesta College. The game will begin at 5 p.m.  Hancock defeated the Cougars last month 56-43.
