Lady Bulldogs Ground Condors 66-55 Behind Beyers, Garcia, Lee-Hammer and Rosa

Taylor Lee-Hammer scored 22 points, Grace Rosa finished with 20 points, while Destinee Garcia and Karly Beyers recorded double-doubles to lead the Allan Hancock College women's basketball team to a 66-55 win at Oxnard to close out the 2016-17 season. The Bulldogs finished third in the Western State Conference standings at 5-5 and 17-9 overall. The 17 overall wins are the program's largest win total since 1994-95. It also marked the first time in 14 years the Bulldogs finished at .500 in conference action.

Lee-Hammer went 7-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range. The freshman also went 5-for-6 from the free-throw line to finish with 22 points. She added five rebounds and three assists.

Rosa made nine of her 14 shots from the field and two of her four free throws. The freshman added six rebounds and four assists to go along with her 20 points.

Beyers finished her freshman season with four 3-pointers on eight attempts to finish with 12 points and a career-best 11 rebounds. It marked her first career double-double. Garcia, playing in her final Hancock game, finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and three steals to secure her fourth double-double of the year. The sophomore went 4-for-11 from the field overall and 2-for-4 from the foul line. Naomi Leopardi added two points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

The Bulldogs led 19-10 after the first quarter behind six points from Beyers and five from Lee-Hammer. Hancock held a 28-22 advantage at halftime after Lee-Hammer added seven more points in the second quarter. The Bulldogs pulled away in the third quarter by outscoring the Condors 21-10 thanks to 10 from Rosa and eight from Garcia. Beyers sank two more 3-pointers, and Lee-Hammer made 5-of-6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to help the Bulldogs clinch the victory.

The Hancock women have an outside chance of making the postseason. The 18-team field for the Southern California Regionals will be announced Monday.
