Bulldogs Pass Road Test at Porterville to Open Season

PORTERVILLE, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team opened the 2022-23 season with a 58-39 road victory at Porterville College on Wednesday evening. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs got off to a slow start with just six points in the opening frame before outscoring Porterville 15-10 in the second quarter, leaving the two teams tied 21-21 at the intermission. Coach Scott's squad cruised to victory in the second half after limiting the hosting Pirates to just nine points in each quarter while registering 37 points of their own. The offensive surge began midway through the third quarter with a pair of free throws from Kayla Taylor that sparked an 8-0 run.

As a team, Hancock held a comfortable 51-43 advantage on the boards while finishing +14 in points in the paint column. Three members of the AHC squad finished in double figures, led by a 14-point showing from India Dowling-Green. Chloe Blankenship closed her collegiate debut with a double-double after registering 12 points and 13 rebounds. Taylor, the lone returner on the floor for AHC in the season opener, rounded out the top offensive performers with 11 tallies. 

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Saturday, November 5th, with a road trip to face LA Harbor College in a non-conference contest.
