Women's Basketball Thumps Reedley in Home Opener

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team topped Reedley College in a decisive 69-40 victory to open the home slate at Joe White Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (5-2) led from the start after scoring 14 points in the first frame while holding the visiting Tigers (1-7) scoreless through the opening nine minutes. As a team, Hancock finished the day with a 35 percent mark from the field while limiting Reedley to just 28 percent. The home squad also won the battle for the boards at a 54-38 margin and converted 19 RC turnovers for 27 points. 
 
Mallory Branum led all scorers on the day with 16 points, which included a 3-for-5 showing from distance, and dished out a team-high of five assists. Giselle Calderon also finished in double figures with 10 points to go along with four assists and three rebounds. Kayla Taylor led the effort in the paint with a season-high tally of 17 rebounds while also registering six blocks and eight points. Chloe Blankenship and Alexandria Paquet followed with nine points apiece while Chyanna Tell chipped in with eight off the bench.
 
The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Thursday, December 1st, for day one of the Toys for Tots Tournament against Folsom Lake College at 7 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. Single-day tickets are now available on the ahcbulldogs.com/ticketing page. As per usual, the ticketing gate will be cashless and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets prior to arrival, but credit/debit card purchases can be made at the gate. Tournament passes are not available this season. Fans also have the ability to receive free admission by donating an unwrapped toy ($10 value or higher) at the gate each day instead of purchasing a ticket.
