Paquet Pushes Bulldogs Past Cuesta in Road Test

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team stretched the active win streak to seven after topping Cuesta College, 83-74, during a Western State Conference road test on Wednesday evening. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (13-5, 2-0 WSC) were forced to battle through a physical back-and-forth affair as the two teams proved to be evenly matched on the night. Hancock held a narrow three-point lead at the intermission and managed to put the game away in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Both programs were nearly even from the field, but the visiting crew proved to be more efficient from the charity stripe after making 89.5 percent of their attempts. Coach Scott's squad also held a 36-28 advantage on the boards and forced 20 turnovers the Cougars (7-11, 0-2 WSC) to commit 20 turnovers. 

Alexandria Paquet led all scorers on the night with a career-high mark of 32 points after going 12-for-17 from the field, which included four three-pointers, and producing a perfect 4-for-4 showing at the free throw line. Kayla Taylor added to the effort with 12 points and eight rebounds, followed by 10 points off the bench from Giselle Calderon. Chyanna Tell, also off the bench, posted a pair of team-best marks with four assists and four steals.

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Saturday, January 14th, with a trip to Moorpark to face the No. 8-ranked Raiders.
