Women's Basketball Bounces Back with Victory over LA Pierce
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team bounced back after a weekend loss at Moorpark with a convincing 73-50 victory over LA Pierce College at home on Wednesday evening. | BOX SCORE
A layup by Alexandria Paquet broke the scoring open after two minutes of action and gave the Bulldogs (14-6, 3-1 WSC) a lead that they would ride throughout the remainder of the evening. The home squad was forced to battle through a cold shooting night after going just 27.3 percent from the field and 5-for-33 from distance, but managed to find some efficiency at the charity stripe by making 82.4 percent of their free throw tries. Hancock also dominated in the paint with a 67-43 advantage on the boards and 40 of the team's 73 points coming from inside the paint. A swarming defense also forced the Brahmas (1-20, 0-4 WSC) to cough up 41 turnovers, which led to 18 points on the opposite end.
Paquet led all scorers on the night with 19 points while also stuffing the stat sheet with seven rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals. India Dowling-Green followed with a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double performance. Chloe Blankenship and Kayla Taylor rounded out the crew of double figure performers with 13 points and 10 points, respectively, while Mya Mendoza snagged 10 rebounds after coming off the bench.
The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Saturday, January 21st, at home against Santa Barbara City College. Single-game tickets for the event, which is scheduled to begin at 3 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium, can be purchased here.
