SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team picked up one win and suffered two losses at the annual Toys for Tots Tournament. The three-day event was held inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium on November 30-December 2.
The Bulldogs topped Cerritos College in the event opener on Thursday evening (60-48) before falling to a pair of highly competitive programs in Folsom Lake College (73-60) and Fresno City College (80-62). Throughout the event, fans could receive free admission by donating an unwrapped gift at the ticketing gate as part of the annual toy drive. Toys collected during the campaign will be distributed to low-income children and families in need throughout the Santa Barbara County area.
Khaelii Robertson-Mack led the way for the team with 14.3 points per game, followed by India Dowling-Green (13.0) and Giselle Calderon (12.3).
Robertson-Mack, a graduate of Orcutt Academy, registered a double-double on Thursday evening after tallying 13 points and 12 rebounds before posting a career-high of 23 points on day two. Dowling-Green also notched a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double on day one while she and Calderon led the team with 17 points apiece on Saturday.
Calderon also was tops for the program with 4.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game, followed in both categories by Mallory Branum who averaged 3.3 helpers and 1.3 takeaways. Chyanna Tell rounded out the leaderboard with four blocks through the three-day showing, averaging 1.3 per contest.
Hancock is scheduled to return to action by hosting the two-day AHC Crossover event. They will face Taft College on Friday, December 8th, before matching up with Chaffey on Saturday. As per usual, the ticketing gate will be cashless and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets prior to arrival, but credit/debit card purchases can be made at the gate.
