Women's Basketball: Bulldogs Sputter Against Moorpark in 57-43 Loss
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team suffered a 57-43 loss at home against Moorpark College in a Western State Conference (North) showdown at the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. | BOX SCORE
Offensive action for both teams started off slow as the opening quarter closed with a score of just 9-6 in favor of Moorpark (16-3, 4-0). Production improved for both sides in the second frame but Hancock (9-10, 2-1) was left facing an eight point deficit at the intermission. The Raiders managed to pull away in the third after rattling off a 13-4 run in the final three minutes and carried the momentum through to the final buzzer.
The Bulldogs were limited to just a 28.3 percent showing from the floor while the visitors, who are currently still undefeated in conference play, posted a final mark of 45.6 percent from the field. Moorpark also outscored AHC in the paint, 34-18, and were +7 in the rebounding category.
Maggie Perez led the way for the Bulldogs as the lone double digit scorer after registering 11 points off of the bench. Khaelii Robertson-Mack and Giselle Calderon followed with eight points apiece while India Dowling-Green and Mallory Branum chipped in six.
Up next for Coach Smith's squad is a road trip to LA Pierce College for continued league play on Wednesday, January 24th.
