Women's Basketball Bounces Back with Win over LA Pierce

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball program bounced back from last weekend's loss with a 78-62 victory over LA Pierce College on Wednesday evening. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (10-10, 3-1) opened the contest with an impressive 21-8 run through the first quarter but saw the lead slightly dwindle by halftime after being outscored by four in the second frame. The Brahmas (12-8, 0-4) used a late 9-2 run in the third to threaten a comeback, but Coach Smith's squad put the game away in the fourth to secure the win.

Both teams were evenly matched from the field after hovering around a shooting percentage of 40 percent from the field and a cold 25 percent mark from distance. Hancock found the difference-maker in their defense after scoring 38 points on 29 Pierce turnovers.

Mallory Branum led a pack of four double-figure scorers with 16 points off of the bench, followed by a double-double performance from Khaelii Robertson-Mack (15 points, 11 rebounds). India Dowling-Green and Katy Matthews chipped in with 12 points and 11 points, respectively, while Chyanna Tell registered a career-high of six steals.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday, January 27th, for another league showdown on the road at Santa Barbara City College.
