Bio

Nerelli enters his ninth season as head coach of the women’s basketball program during the 2021-22 campaign. Since taking over, Nerelli has rebuilt the program into one of the most respected in the state. The Bulldogs recorded 10+ victories in each of his first seven seasons, a feat not accomplished by the program in more than 20 years. Coach Nerelli enters the season with an overall record of 100-96 at AHC. 

The Bulldogs finished the 2019-20 season with a 14-16 overall record, which included a 3-5 mark in Western State Conference action, and qualified for postseason play. The No. 19-seeded Allan Hancock upset South Coast Conference Champion and No. 14-seed, Long Beach City College (20-9, 10-0), in the first round giving AHC its first postseason victory since 1993.

Coach Nerelli has extensive experience helping student-athletes earn scholarship opportunities to four-year institutions. More than 30 of his former players have moved on, including various Division I programs. For his dedication and decades of service helping his student-athletes succeed on the court and in the classroom, Coach Nerelli was inducted into the CIF Southern Section Hall of Fame in 2014, the Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table Hall of Fame in 2017, and will be inducted as a charter member of the Morro Bay High School Hall of Fame in May 2021.

Prior to AHC, he spent 26 years as the head coach of the girl's varsity basketball team at Morro Bay High School where he led the program to six league titles, three Southern California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) championships, and two SoCal Final Four appearances. He was also honored as the Los Padres League's Coach of the Year six times throughout his tenure, including receiving the distinction during each of his final three seasons. Nerelli left Morro Bay High School with a 456-219 career record. At the time, he was ranked No. 23 in state history for most career wins. As the boy's and girl's cross country coach at Morro Bay High, he won 33 league titles and seven CIF championships.
