Women's Golf Concludes Regular Season at WSC Championship, Whitford & Black Qualify for SoCal Regional

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's golf team wrapped up the regular season portion of the 2023 campaign with two days of competition at the Rio Bravo Country Club in Bakersfield for the Western State Conference Championship.

The Bulldogs placed sixth through the field of seven competing teams after shooting 408 on Sunday and 412 on Monday. Kariss Whitford led the pack with a final tally of 184 (88/96), followed by Danica Black who shot 186 (92/94). Katrina Mata and Khloe Branch also competed at the WSC showing but did not qualify for postseason action. Mata tallied 210 after going 103 on day one and 107 on day two while Branch posted a final score of 240 (125/115).

At the conclusion of the event, the top four of the eight competition teams will advance to the 3C2A State Championship. Individual slots then go to the top seven finishers from teams that either did not qualify for the state finals or were trying to qualify as individuals already as their team did not qualify for the regional showing.
