Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at Chuck Melendez Invitational

VENTURA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's golf team opened the 2024 season by competing in the annual Chuck Melendez Invitational held at Olivas Links Golf Course on Monday.

The event also served as the first Western State Conference (WSC) tournament of the season. The Bulldogs finished sixth in the field of nine participating schools but slotted into fourth place among WSC opponents. Antelope Valley, Bakersfield and Citrus College also competed but did not field full squads and thus didn't factor into the team scoring.

Kariss Whitford, the lone returner from last season's roster, led the way for the program by landing in a tie for 15th after carding 91 on the day.

Hancock will return to action Monday, Sept. 9 at Santa Barbara Golf Club for the second WSC event of the year.
