Kariss Whitford Advances to 3C2A Women's Golf State Championship Event
CHINO HILLS, Calif. - Kariss Whitford has advanced to the big stage after a solid individual showing at the Southern California Regional Championship, which took place on November 10-11 at Los Serranos Golf Club. | FULL RESULTS
The Santa Maria native carded a two-day, 36-hole score of 175 after registering a score of 88 in round one and 87 in round two. Whitford becomes the first women's golfer, on record, to represent the Bulldogs at the state level. She is also just the second individual in program history to qualify twice for the regional event, joined only by Katie Novo who made the cut in 2004 and 2005.
Annie Betts of Santa Barbara City College was the individual medalist after shooting four under par on the opening day before going event with the 74 par course on day two. Kylie Lau (144) of Mt. San Antonio College was tied at the top but lost in the tiebreaker while Sahya Kitabatake of Canyons took third.
Whitford will be one of 66 participants to compete at the 3C2A Women's Golf State Championship, hosted at the Monarch Dunes Golf Club in Nipomo, on November 17-18. The full field of competitors is set to be comprised of five teams from the South and four team and six individuals from the North.
