Women's Soccer Looking to Score First Conference Win

The women's soccer team (0-7, 2-12) will look to snap a few droughts this week. The Bulldogs will look for their first home and conference wins of the season. The ladies host Cuesta on Tuesday at 4p.m. and Oxnard at 2 p.m. on Friday.

Last week, Hancock fell 9-1 at home to Ventura and 7-2 at Santa Barbara. Though they were outscored 16-3 combined, the Bulldogs netted their first conference goals of the season and snapped five-match scoring drought.

Mercedes Zepeda (Santa Ynez HS) scored her first goal of the season in the 86th minute on a ball assisted by Kaitlyn Campbell (Orcutt Academy) against the Pirates. Courtney Crowe (Nipomo HS) and Janeth Bernal (Santa Maria HS) each made 10 saves in goal against Ventura.

Against Santa Barbara, the Bulldogs netted two scores, one from Campbell on a ball assisted by Jennifer Mena (Santa Maria HS), the second was off the foot of Jennifer Justice (Lompoc HS) from Campbell. Justice enters this week with three goals and three assists, while Campbell leads the team with seven goals.

Cuesta (1-5-2, 6-8-2) blanked Hancock 8-0 earlier this season, while Oxnard (2-4-1, 5-8-2) shutout the Bulldog 2-0.
