Aldana and Calderon Score, Hancock Holds on Late to Tie Season Opener

Elizabeth Aldana opened up the scoring in the first half, and Lissette Calderon scored early in the second half. Bulldogs end their first game of the year in a draw with Sequoias 2-2. Hancock opens the season at 0-0-1. 

Aldana, the second year defender scored the first goal of the game in the 39th minute off an assist from Nancy Esparza. College of the Sequoias tied the game at 1-1 on an unassisted shot by Viviana Alvarado in the 50th minute. Sophomore midfielder Lissette Calderon scored Hancock's second goal of the game two minutes later off the assist from Hannah Montalban to go up 2-1. Sequoias midfielder Kamryn Berry scored the final goal on a penalty kick to tie the game at 2-2.  

Hancock shot often with 15 shots in the game with 10 of those on goal. Sequoias finished with 5 shots on goal.

Hancock goalkeeper Brooke Stewart made three saves.

The Bulldogs travel to Las Vegas for the 2-day Las Vegas Showcase. They open the weekend Friday, Aug. 30 at 2:00 PM against Sheridan College. Saturday Hancock faces Utah State University Eastern at 10:00 AM.
