Women's Soccer Finishes Historic Season

The Allan Hancock College women's soccer team played in its first playoff appearance in school history as the 18 seed where they took on No. 15 Saddleback College at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, CA.

The Bulldog's fell behind to Saddleback early in the first half and took a 2-0 deficit into halftime. Saddleback's leading scorer, who was slotted to be on the UCLA track and field team at the beginning of the year, Maliyah Medley picked up an assist and a goal in the first half.

Coming out of halftime, Hancock played without a mistake until the 80th minute where Saddleback forward Alyssa Stapinski scored a late goal to secure the win 3-0.

Hancock was outshot 20-5 but earned more corner kicks 4-3.

Bulldog defender Laura Chartier attempted a team leading three shots in the game and goalkeeper Brooke Stewart came up with five saves.

The Lady Bulldogs wrap up the season at 8-9-6, but take home the knowledge that they transformed the Allan Hancock College women's soccer program this year. With the potential for 11 freshman to return next season, Hancock is poised to have another spectacular year in the 2020 season.
