Six Women's Soccer Players Earn All-Conference Recognition

Six Allan Hancock College Women's Soccer players scored All-Western State Conference North recognition. Sophomore Jennifer Perez earned the Western State Conference North Division Defensive Player of the Year. Sophomore Elizabeth Aldana was an All-WSC North First Team pick. Sophomore Diana De Leon and Freshman Brianna Gaona earned All-WSC North Second Team spots. Sophomore Lissette Calderon and freshman Alivia Valdez earned WSC honorable mentions.

As recognition for a historic season for the Allan Hancock College women's program, Head Coach Billy Vinnedge received Coach of the Year. Coach Vinnedge along with his assistant coaches Ricardo Vazquez, Buddy Kichler, and Antony Herrera the women's soccer team saw its first playoff appearance in program history.

In her sophomore season, Perez earned the Western State Conference North Division's Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring the Bulldog defensive efforts. Perez was tasked with facing some of the state's most prolific scorers and still led the Bulldog defense to its most successful season in program history. She led a defense that allowed only 1.40 goals against per game, down from 3.52 goals against last season. Perez ends her career at Hancock with two goals and two assists.

Alivia Valdez

Aldana finished top 10 in the conference in total points with 10 goals and four assists. Aldana finished the season number one in shots on goal with 75 and had a .133 shooting percentage. She was one of nine players to start all 23 games for the Bulldogs this season. She finishes her Hancock Career as one of the program's best scorers with 15 goals and five assists. 

De Leon was another defensive standout for the Bulldogs this year. Her presence in the defensive zone allowed the Bulldogs to have it's best defensive season yet. De Leon finishes her Hancock career with two assists. 

Gaona makes the All-WSC Second Team in her first year as a Bulldog. This season she tied for fifth in points with two goals and three assists. 

Calderon finished fourth in scoring with three goals and two assists as well as finished third in shooting with 33 shots on the season. She ends her career at Hancock with four goals and five assists. 

Valdez is the third Bulldog defender to earn post-season recognition for her performance this year. She handled the ball well and created chances up the field for her team. She ends the season with an assist.
