Hat Trick by Ramirez Powers 5-1 Win over WLAC

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - A hat trick from Cynthia Ramirez powered the Allan Hancock College women's soccer program to a 5-1 victory over West LA College on Thursday afternoon at home. | BOX SCORE

The Arroyo Grande native's three goals gives the freshman 10 on the season thus far, placing her in a tie with an athlete from Desert College as the top scorer in the state. She is also tied for first in total points (20) and leads the state in shot attempts with 20 ties on the season to date.

The Bulldogs (3-0-2) dominated the possession from beginning to end and finished the game with a hefty 44-3 advantage on shot attempts. Ramirez started the scoring effort with a goal in the 9th minute after connecting with a cross from Kaihla Lopez. Estrella Guzman added to the cushion in the 20th minute after a lead pass from Emely Graciliano Sanchez from the right side. Ramirez notched her second tally of the day in the 47th minute before the Wildcats (0-5-1) scored their lone goal by converting a penalty kick opportunity just two minutes later. Ramirez knocked in her third goal of the game in the 57th minute after a free kick from 30-yards out, followed by the final goal of the game from Bianca Castaneda in the 71st minute.

Ramirez and Lopez led the offensive assault with 11 shots attempts apiece while also combining to place 11 tries on target. Annette Vargas (4), Alina Terrones (3), and Hope Smith (2) added to the effort with multiple attempts on frame.

Maya Mendek and Ally Britt both served 45 minutes in the box for the home squad, but neither collected a save after a strong defensive line limited scoring opportunities for the visitors.

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Friday, September 16th, and will play host to Glendale College. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 PM on the AHC Soccer Field.
