Women's Soccer Lands at No. 11 in Latest Top 20 Poll
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's soccer team remained high in the rankings after the third release of the CCCSIA Women's Soccer Top 25 Poll, announced by the association on Thursday. Sports information and athletic communications professionals from around the state served as the poll's voting members.
The Bulldogs fell two spots to No. 11 after tallying 101 points in the poll while boasting an overall record of 9-1-3. Other Western State Conference foes in the rankings include No. 13 LA Pierce (76 points) and No. 15 Santa Barbara (58 points).
Chaffey remained in the top slot for the second consecutive poll after receiving five of the 10 first place votes and totaling 193 points. Not far behind the Panthers is Mount San Antonio at 186 points. The Mounties received three first place votes as they remain atop the South Coast Conference's North Division, and prepare for a showdown against the South Division's leader co-No. 15 Long Beach on Friday.
Orange Empire Conference teams take up four of the next five spots, as Santiago Canyon and its tie and one forfeit loss move up to the No. 4 spot. The team they tied Tuesday, Saddleback, moved up five spots into a tie for sixth with the conference's third place team, Cypress, whose one defeat this season was to the Bobcats. Orange Coast drops from No. 4 to the No. 8 spot, dropping a pair of games in conference play.
In between the OEC teams at No. 5 is Folsom Lake. The Falcons remain, along with Chaffey, one of two remaining teams in the state without a loss. Another tie in the voting results closed out the top 10, as Citrus and Reedley each received 107 points.
The Bulldogs are set to resume league play on Friday, October 14th, with a trip to Oxnard College.
