Terrones Sparks Surge as Bulldogs Power Past Oxnard

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's soccer team ended Sophomore Night with a 4-0 shutout victory over Oxnard College at Ernest Righetti High School on Tuesday evening. | BOX SCORE

Prior to the game, the Bulldogs honored a group of 10 sophomores who competed in their final regular season game at home. The group of honorees included Ally Britt, Becca Souza, Antoinette Terrones, Jaelynn Guzman, Hayde Gallardo, Hope Smith, Emely Graciliano Sanchez, Glenneda Gonzales, Luz Aguirre, and Jessica Gil

Both teams were scoreless in the opening half, despite the Bulldogs (13-1-5, 8-1-2 WSC) registering 26 shots before the intermission. Antoinette Terrones put Hancock on the board in the 46th minute after sending a pass from Hope Smith through to the back post. Luz Aguirre added to the effort just two minutes later with an assist from Cynthia Ramirez. Terrones used a pass from Emely Graciliano Sanchez to register her second tally of the night in the 65th before Graciliano Sanchez scored an unassisted goal five minutes later. 

Coach Vinnedge's squad dominated the possession time from start to finish after outshooting the Condors (5-14-0, 2-10-0 WSC), 58-1. Ally Britt secured one save after 90 minutes of work while Oxnard's goalie collected 27 saves. 

Tuesday's win keeps Hancock in the running for a share of the regular season conference championship title as they sit one game behind Santa Barbara City College with one game remaining on the docket. Santa Barbara, who defeated Moorpark on Tuesday, has clinched the top spot in the Western State Conference (North) with a final conference record of 9-1-2.

The Bulldogs will travel to Ventura College on Friday, November 11th, for the final game of the regular season.
