HISTORY MADE: Women's Soccer Claims First WSC Title in Program History with 2-1 Win at Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's soccer team made history on Friday evening after topping Ventura College, 2-1, in the regular season finale. | BOX SCORE

Friday's win moves the Bulldogs to 9-1-2 against Western State Conference (North) foes, placing them in a tie for the top with rival Santa Barbara City College as both programs get dubbed with the title of 2022 WSC Women's Soccer Co-Champions. 

Hancock trailed early after the Pirates registered a goal in the 15th minute. Becca Souza erased the deficit after connecting with a cross from Leslie Ramirez that was sent to the back post in the 30th minute. Alina Terrones netted the go-ahead goal in the 71st after the Pirates keeper deflected an attempt by Cynthia Ramirez, which she redirected to the back post. 

Coach Vinnedge's squad outshot the hosting Pirates, 13-9, and held a 2-1 advantage at the edge of the field. Ally Britt and Maya Mendek split time in the box for AHC. Britt earned the start and collected four saves while Mendek closed out the second half in goal with five stops. 

The Bulldogs will now wait for the state office to announce the pairings of the CCCAA Women's Soccer Southern California Regional Championship, which is set to begin with round one on November 16th.
