No. 13 Bulldogs Advance to Second Round of SoCal Regional Playoffs After 3-1 Victory over Orange Coast

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The No. 13-seeded Allan Hancock College women's soccer team is moving on to the second round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs after topping No. 20 Orange Coast College in a 3-1 decision at home on Wednesday afternoon. The win, which came after a physical battle on the pitch, marks the first postseason victory on record in the history of the program. | BOX SCORE

Jaelynn Guzman put the Bulldogs (15-1-5, 9-1-2) ahead early after chipping a shot over the keeper in the 19th minute. Alina Terrones doubled the difference in the 37th with a hard shot from outside the box, giving the home squad a 2-0 advantage at the intermission. 

The Pirates (12-9-2, 5-8-1) snuck one past the AHC keeper after the halftime break after capitalizing on a ball that bounced off the post in the 50th minute. The scoring for both sides ended in the 86th when Cynthia Ramirez sent a corner kick into the box that was headed by Ana Delgado to the back corner of the net. 

Orange Coast outshot the Bulldogs at a 20-15 margin after dominating the possession for most of the second but Delgado, Hope Smith, Jessica Gil, and Leslie Ramirez held down the backline. Maya Mendek earned the win in the box for the home squad after snagging eight saves through 90 minutes of play. 

The Bulldogs will now travel to face No. 4-seeded Mt. San Antonio College for the next round of postseason action in Walnut. A start time for the game has not been set. The winner of the second round will face the victor of No. 5 Long Beach/No. 21 El Camino in the Quarterfinals. To view the full regional bracket, please click here
