Women's Soccer Named in Latest State Rankings
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - For the first time this season, the Allan Hancock College women's soccer team has broken through the Top 20 rankings in the latest edition of the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) Poll.
The Bulldogs, who had been in the "others receiving votes" category in the first three regular season polls, landed at No. 18 after receiving 29 points in the poll. Hancock currently holds an overall record of 9-3-0 and is tied atop the Western State Conference (North) with a 3-1 mark against league foes.
Ventura joins AHC in the standings after being placed in a three-way tie for No. 20, followed by Santa Barbara City who was mentioned in the "other receiving votes" section.
Coach Vinnedge's squad is second amongst all women's soccer teams in the state with 56 goals scored on the season, trailing the leading MiraCosta program's tally of 59. Hancock's solid defense core has only surrendered eight goals through 12 contests thus far, leading to an impressive 0.67 goals allowed average thus far.
Saddleback College, last season's state champion, was the unanimous selection for the top spot this week after being one of four teams in the rankings to still boast a "0" in the loss column. Chaffey was tabbed as the No. 2 team and was followed by Mt. San Antonio, Clovis, and Long Beach City.
