Women's Soccer Secures 2023 WSC North Crown with Win over Ventura

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's soccer team secured the 2023 Western State Conference (North) title on Friday afternoon after a 3-1 victory over Ventura College in the regular season finale. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (14-3-3, 7-1-3) entered the contest in a tie at the top of the league standings with Santa Barbara City College and a half-game advantage over Moorpark College, who were set to face off against each other on Friday evening. Hancock clinched at least a share of the league title with their victory before securing the title outright after a tie between the Vaqueros and the Raiders. This marks the second consecutive conference crown, and first outright title, in program history.

Zorah Coulibaly used an assist from Cynthia Ramirez to put the home squad on the board in the 20th minute before Ana Deladgo doubled the lead in the 28th, also with a helper from Ramirez. Ramirez then netted her 30th goal of the season in the 88th minute after sending a pass from Ximena Hinojosa past the Pirates keeper. Ventura's goal came less than a minute later after a successful penalty kick attempt.

Sam Patchin secured the win in the box after allowing one goal and collecting three saves through 90 minutes.

The Bulldogs have automatically qualified for the Southern California Regional Tournament, which is scheduled to begin later this week. The 3C2A office is expected to announce the official seeding and pairing information by Tuesday afternoon.
