Bramble, Rayco-Rosado lead Bulldogs to Third Place Finish at WSC Meet

Leanna Bramble won all three of her events and Sarah Rayco-Rosado won a tight 100 yard butterfly race to lead the Allan Hancock College women's swim team to a third place finish at a five-way Western State Conference meet hosted at L.A. Valley College on Friday.

Bramble, who won the Individual Pentathlon title in Hancock's inaugural meet a few weeks ago, opened the meet by taking the 200-yard individual medley event in 2:17.50. The Orcutt Academy graduate won by a six-second margin. She went on to finish first in the 500-yard freestyle by eight-seconds with a time of 5:33.07. Just two minutes later, she won the 100-yard breaststroke event by six-seconds when she touched the wall in 1:09.30. The freshman accounted for 27 points toward Hancock's team score.

Rayco-Rosado finished runner-up by two seconds in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:12.71. The freshman also finished fourth in the 100-free in 1:05.19. The highlight of the Pennsylvania native's day was capturing first in the 100-yard butterfly. Her time of 1:09.04 was .06 of a second better than the second place finisher. Rayco-Rosado earned 15 points for the Bulldogs.

Bailey Nelson and Caija McNeil also earned points for Hancock. Nelson, a freshman from Righetti High School, earned two fourth place finishes for a total of four points. She was clocked in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 12.50.89 and in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:13.51. McNeil finished fifth in the 1,000-free in 13:12.56 to capture one point for the Bulldogs.

A total of nine Bulldogs competed in the meet for the Bulldogs. Hancock finished with a total of 47 points, all in individual events. Host LA Valley won with 90 total points, including 22 in relay events. Bakersfield finished second with 49 points, including eight in relay events. College of the Canyons finished fourth with 27 points and Santa Monica finished fifth with 14 points.

Hancock competes on Friday, March 7, at a meet hosted by Cuesta College.
