Hancock Climbs Three Spots, Finishes Fifth at Cuesta Invitational

Led by a first and second place finish from freshman Leanna Bramble, the Allan Hancock College women's swim team climbed three spots on the final day of the 36th annual Cuesta Invitational on Saturday. The Bulldogs finished fifth out 16 teams overall with 225 points.

Santa Rosa College won with 940.5 overall points. Sierra College finished second with 610.5 points, followed by Bakersfield (389) and the host Lady Cougars (381).

Bramble won the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 31.23 seconds. The Orcutt Academy native finished second in the 500 yard freestyle. Her time of 5:21.19 was less than a second behind the winner. All together, Bramble competed in three events at the meet and earned 53 total points for the Bulldogs.

Sarah Rayco-Rosado earned 16 points on Saturday. She finished seventh in the 200 yard individual medley (2:30.89) and 13th in the 100 yard IM (1:11.43).

Jessica Kwong racked up another 14 points the Bulldogs. She placed 8th in the 50 yard free (26.27) and 14th in the 50 yard butterfly (29.68).

The Bulldogs picked up 71 points in three relay events on Saturday. They finished fourth in the 400 medley and 200 medley relays and placed sixth in the 400 freestyle.

Hancock returns to action on Friday, March 14, at the second Western State Conference meet of the season. The meet is at 2:30 p.m. in Bakersfield.
