(Monterey Park, CA) Allan Hancock College freshman Leanna Bramble finished 13th overall in the women's 200-yard individual medley event at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Swimming State Championships on Friday in Monterey Park.

The Orcutt Academy graduate swam in the evening's consolation final and finished fifth in the eight-woman field. Her time of 2:15.20 was 0.25 second faster than her time in the morning's preliminary heat. Her personal-best time in the event was 2:13.59.

Shannon Cheung of Pasadena won the event with a time of 2:06.89.

Bramble, the lone Bulldog competing at state, earned four more points for Hancock in the team competition. The Bulldogs, who are in their inaugural season, sit in 25th place out of 48 teams with 11 total points, all from Bramble.

The three-day meet, hosted by East Los Angeles College, ends on Saturday with Bramble competing in her specialty event, the 100-yard breaststroke. Bramble will enter the field with the fifth-fastest time in the field, which she swam last week to break the Western State Conference record at 1:06.41.
