McNeil finished 14th in the 1,650-yard freestyle event (22:01.41) during the Western State Conference Championships last season as a freshman. She was a three-sport athlete at Santa Maria High. She was the captain of her water polo team for three seasons and was a two-time All-League selection. McNeil was twice named the Most Valuable Player of her swim and water polo teams. She also played tennis for the Saints.

McNeil has the highest grade point average on the team. She plans to become a speech therapist and is learning American Sign Language.

She plans to pursue a career in geriatric nursing.
