Records Fall in Final Swim Meet of Spring

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's and women's swimming programs wrapped up the abbreviated Spring II season on Saturday with a trip to Bakersfield. 

Jake Healey headlined the day for the program with a pair of record-breaking performances. Healey clocked a final time of 22.08 in the men's 50-yard freestyle before following up with a 49.88 time in the men's 100-yard freestyle. Chase Cone also notched a top performance in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:11.77 while Larry Daniel finished on top in the 50-yard backstroke (34.16). Gabriel Clear rounded out the list of first place finishers on the men's side with a top mark in the 50-yard breaststroke (27.53).

The women's team collected two individual first place finishes on the day after Brisa Morales-Acosta was tops in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:31.76) and the 50-yard breaststroke (41.29). The women's relay team (Morales-Acosta, Anika Smith, Helen Frazer, and Ilu Tefera) also secured a pair of top finishes with a final time of 2:13.83 in the 200-yard medley relay and 1:59.16 in the 200-yard free relay.

As a whole, the Bulldogs have broken seven school records this season on the men's side and anticipate seeing five student-athletes move on to the next level.
