Track & Field Makes History by Hosting Inaugural Henry Kirk Invitational
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College track & field programs made history by hosting the inaugural Henry Kirk Invitational on Friday afternoon, marking the first home event on record in at least four decades, before continuing action on Saturday at Occidental College. Henry Kirk was a former student-athlete at AHC as a member of the cross country team and the track & field program.
The women's team finished in fourth place out of five scoring squads. India Dowling-Green led the way on the individual front with a top finish in the 100-meter dash (12.39). Both relay teams also clocked stellar performances with the 4x400m team taking first and the 4x100m team placing second. Itandehui Olea and Eva Luu competed at the Oxy Invitational, hosted by Occidental College, on Saturday afternoon where they both turned in 3C2A "A" standard times in the 5,000-meter race. Olea finished in 39th with a final time of 18:27.83 while Luu took 45th with a final time of 18:33.36.
The men's team finished in fifth out of five scoring programs. Kollins Pettaway headlined the track performances with a runner-up showing in the 200-meter dash (22.98) and a fourth place finish in the 400-meter race (51.78). Nasim Moody highlighted the field events with an "A" standard mark in the long jump (6.98m) while working towards a second place finish in that event and the triple jump.
