Volleyball Team Returns from Road Trip with a Win Over Oxnard

    The Allan Hancock College women’s volleyball team came back from Oxnard with a win on Oct. 13. The Bulldogs beat Oxnard 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-22). Anakela Francisco (Santa Maria, Ca) had 44 digs and four serving aces. Francisco, a sophomore, is currently ranked third in the Western State Conference in digs, with 268 so far this season. She is ranked fourth in the state in digs with an average of 5.83 per game. 

    Freshman Erin Smith (Nipomo, Ca) had 10 kills and three blocks in three sets. All three of Smith’s blocks were solo blocks made in the decisive fourth game. Danielle Rydberg (Nipomo, Ca) had four blocks. She, with the help of freshman Sadie DeQuattro (Paso Robles, CA), pressured the Oxnard hitters throughout the night. Allison Armstrong, a freshman, had another solid performance with nine kills and 18 Digs. Miriam Malae (Lompoc, CA)  had 12 assists and Staci McCracken (Santa Maria, Ca) had 18. 

    The Bulldogs are now 1-0 in conference play and 4-5 overall. Their next home game is Friday, Oct. 16 against Moorpark College, a team that is currently ranked third in the state. The game starts at 7 p.m. in the Joe White Memorial Gymnasiu.
