
Bolusan and Davis Lead Bulldogs to 3-0 Win Over Cerro Coso
Behind 11 kills from sophomore Brittany Bolusan and 27 assists from sophomore setter Rebecca Davis, the Allan Hancock College women's volleyball team swept Cerro Coso 3-0 to split its season-opening day at Taft College on Friday.
Hancock defeated Cerro Coso 25-20, 25-16 and 25-20. Freshman Taylor Nevitt, a Nipomo High School graduate, added eight kills on 14 swings, along with nine digs. Cristine Flores led Hancock with 14 digs.
Hancock hit .232 in the victory with 34 kills and 12 errors on 95 attempts. Davis and Chyanne Thomas added seven kills.
The Bulldogs dropped their season opener 3-1 to Taft College. Hancock fell 25-13, 25-14, 21-25 and 25-19. Davis, who has transitioned to setter from right-side, led the Bulldogs with nine kills and 21 assists. Nevitt and Bolusan added seven kills apiece. Flores led the Bulldogs with 14 digs, while Bolusan added 10.
The Bulldogs return to action next Friday, September 4, at a Long Beach City College Tournament. Hancock faces Mesa Community College out of Arizona at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs battle El Camino at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday before closing out the tournament against Chaffey at 11 a.m.
