
Women's Volleyball Sweeps Pierce for First WSC Victory Since 2015
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's volleyball team swept LA Pierce College at home on Wednesday evening, securing the program's first Western State Conference (WSC) victory in nearly a decade. Last night's result also moved the overall win total for the Bulldogs to 10 on the season thus far, marking the first time that AHC has reached double-figure victories since 2005 when the team went 10-10. Final set scores were 25-9, 25-16, and 25-19 on the day. Hancock finished with a final team tally of 13 aces and an overall hitting percentage of .200 while holding the visiting Brahmas (1-10, 0-2) to -.104.
Marina Agueda was the lone member of the home squad to finish with double digit kills, totaling 10. She was followed by Jocelyn Olmstead (9, .571) and Emma Olney (8, .375). Shanyce Valadez paced the offense with 26 assists and led the way from the service line with four aces while Aguida and Olney added three apiece. Gifti Tefera and Juliza Evans were tops for the defense with seven digs each in the backrow.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday, October 11th, at home against Moorpark College. The match is set to begin at 6 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium.
