SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's volleyball team put together a strong all-around performance to sweep Cerro Coso College in straight sets (25-11, 28-26, 25-23) Wednesday evening inside Joe White Memorial Gymnasium for the 2025 season opener. | BOX SCORE
The Bulldogs (3-4) jumped out quickly in the opener, hitting an impressive .387 as a team while limiting the visiting crew to just 11 points. Emma Olney and Tiara Downing fueled the early run with kills at the net, and Bailey Ware added timely swings to close out the set comfortably.
Cerro Coso (1-3) responded in the second frame with their best push of the night, forcing 14 ties and eight lead changes. Behind steady setting from Shanyce Valadez (35 assists overall) and clutch finishes from Olney and Ashlee Robinson, Hancock weathered the back-and-forth battle. The home squad closed it out at 28-26 after back-to-back kills from Olney to secure the two-set advantage.
In the final set, AHC kept momentum on its side, building enough of a cushion to withstand a late Coyote rally. Olney once again provided the spark with 17 kills on .350 hitting for the night, while Downing (.455 hitting, 5 kills) added efficient production. Robinson contributed on both ends with seven points and a pair of block assists. The Bulldogs sealed the sweep, 25-23.

The Bulldogs are set to return to action this Friday (Sept. 5) at the MPC Quad, hosted by Monterey Peninsula College. They will face off against the hosting Lobos at 4 PM before matching up against Siskiyous College at approximately 6 PM.
