Cross Country Opens Season at Tour de Cuesta, John Gutierrez Takes First for Men's XC
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2024 campaign by competing in the Tour de Cuesta event, hosted by Cuesta College, on Friday afternoon. | COMPLETE RESULTS
John Gutierrez led the way for the men's program as the top individual performer after turning in a final time of 21:54.7. Erick Marceleno also secured a top-10 finish as the No. 9 racer (23:21.7). As a team, the men took fourth place out of four scoring programs.
The short-staffed women's team did not have enough participants to score as a team, but did still find success on the individual front. Newcomer Araceli Medina was tops for the Bulldogs with a sixth place performance (21:37.8), finishing just ahead of teammate Makayla Gonzalez (22:23.2) who took eighth.
The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Friday, August 30th, by competing in the Pirate Invitational at the Arroyo Verde Park in Ventura.
