Women's Cross Country Places 9th at SoCal Regional Championship
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's cross country program secured a top-10 finish as a team while competing at the Southern California Regional Championship for a second consecutive season. The top 16 teams from the SoCal event and eight teams from the NorCal Regional Championship automatically qualified for the state meet. | FULL RESULTS
The Bulldogs took ninth place through the field of 21 scoring programs with a final point total of 276. San Diego Mesa won the event, followed by Mt. San Antonio College and Moorpark College.
The women's 5K event saw 146 individual racers take off at the starting line. Itandehui Olea led the way for the program with a 4th place finish after posting a time of 19:08.0. Eva Luu followed with a top-15 finish by placing 14th with a time of 19:54.7. Both runners received All-Region honors after placing in the upper 14 slots. Makayla Gonzalez (41st), Annais Vega (119th), and Rosalie Nicolas (130th) rounded out the list of AHC performers contributing to the team's finish.
This marks the second straight team appearance at the state meet for the women's program who, before last fall, hadn't qualified since 1992.
The Bulldogs will compete at the 3C2A State Championship on Saturday, November 23rd. The meet will be held at Woodward Park in Fresno.
