Bio

For 19 seasons, Quintana has been the head coach of Hancock’s women’s cross country, and men’s and women’s track and field programs. He retired as head coach of the track program in May 2019, but remained in charge of the cross country team. Quintana is a two-time Western State Conference Coach of the Year recipient, taking the honor in 2005 for cross country and in 2019 for track and field.

In 2017, Quintana led the cross country team to the program’s first appearance as a team at the Southern California Regional Championship in nine seasons.

As head coach of the track program. Quintana has helped multiple athletes win individual Western State Conference titles, as well as advance to regional and state championship meets. Bobbie Patton won two women’s shot put conference titles and a state championship in 2005.
From 2014-2018, at least one Hancock athlete won an individual conference title. Two athletes captured conference titles in 2014 and 2016. In 2018, Haleigh Batty won the conference long jump title and finished third in state to earn All-American status. Brent Dionisio won the men’s high jump title in 2017 before signing with University of New Mexico.

Batty, Patton, and Dionisio are two of the dozens of former athletes who have earned opportunities to compete at four-year universities. Women’s cross country runner Yadira Castellano also signed with Marymount California University in May 2019.

Prior to Hancock, Quintana coached for 13 seasons at Righetti High School, his alma mater. He coached the Warriors to five league titles and qualified runners for the CIF finals, master’s, and state meets.
