Bio

Steven Youngblood will enter his second season as an assistant coach for the track & field program in 2024. He also serves as the head coach for men's and women's cross country.

During the fall campaign, Youngblood led the women's cross country team to new heights as the program saw the best showing in over three decades. The team earned a sixth place finish at the 3C2A State Championship while seeing two athletes claim All-State honors. He also was tabbed as the 2023 Western State Conference Coach of the Year after directing the AHC squad to top-five finishes in eight of their nine meets, including a runner-up team performance at the WSC Finals.

Prior to joining the Bulldogs, Youngblood spent four seasons coaching at Pioneer Valley High School and two at Santa Maria High School. He also provides individual coaching during the summer and winter off-season timeframes and has served as a high school teacher for eight years. 

The Pioneer Valley alum was a highly decorated distance runner who participated in the UCLA running club while working towards a degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. After graduation, Youngblood enrolled at Hancock to begin his collegiate athletic career where he finished 10th overall in the 3k steeplechase at the SoCal Finals, before transferring to compete for Cuesta in cross country.
