Baseball Team Well Represented in Conference Awards

      Recognized as the best defensive players in the conference at their position, four of the Allan Hancock College baseball team’s starting players were named Gold Glove winners for the 2011 season. First baseman Jacob Cano, second baseman Austin Nyman, shortstop Dalton Rouleau and outfielder Chris Rivera received the honor. Rouleau was also a Gold Glove winner in 2010.

      Overall the Bulldogs were well represented on the All-Western State Conference 2011 baseball team, with ten players making the list. Nyman was named to the WSC first team along with infielder Chris Hernandez and catcher Dylan Young. Nyman finished the regular season with 47 hits, 28 runs and 18 RBI’s. He led the team in stolen bases with 20 out of 26 attempts. Hernandez had 34 hits, 12 runs and 17 RBI’s, while Young had the team’s highest on-base percentage.

      Three Hancock players were named to the WSC second team: J.P. Maestas, outfielder; Joseph Perez, pitcher; and Jordan Sechler, pitcher. Codey Shrider, Rouleau and Cano received Honorable Mention.
