Baseball Loses Heartbreaker to Bakersfield

    Thanks to strong hitting from the Bulldogs, including River Stevens (Mission Hills)
second grand slamof the season, the Bulldogs led the Renegades 14-7 going into
the seventh inning of theteam's home opener. Bakersfield staged a comeback though,
beginning with two runs in thetop of the seventh and finished by a run in the eight,
followed immediately by a grand slam tobeat the Bulldogs 15-14. 


    Stevens had a stellar game at the plate, hitting a two-run double in the first inning
to givethe Bulldogs a 2-1 lead in the first inning and following it up with a grand slam
in the second.In addition to his two grand slams Stevens has 12 hits in 14 at-bats and
11 RBI's. He has sixruns so far this season and a .857 batting average.
 Jacob Cano (St. Joseph) got on the board with threeruns, three hits and one RBI. 
Tom Muhlethaler (O'Leary) had two hits,two runs and two RBI's and
Christopher Hernandez (Arroyo Grande) had two hits and scored one run.     

    The Bulldogs are now 1-2 and currently ranked 10th in Southern California.
They play theCañada College Colts at home Friday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. and the
Porterville Pirates ,also at home,
on Saturday at 1 p.m.
