Aguilar, Baker Lead Bulldogs to 6-1 Win, Improve to 5-1

The Bulldogs received another strong pitching performance in a 6-1 win over Imperial Valley on Saturday at John Osborne Field. The Allan Hancock College baseball team improved to 3-0 at home this week and 5-1 for the season.

Marc Baker struck out four in six solid innings to earn his first win of the season. The Nipomo High School graduate scattered eight hits, two walks and one run. Freshman Jesse Posey threw two shutout innings of relief and John Drury struck out one in a 1-2-3 ninth inning to secure the victory.

Lompoc High School graduate Evan Aguilar led the Bulldogs' eight-hit attack with a 2 for 3 effort. Aguilar put the Bulldogs on the board first in the bottom of the second for the second-straight game. The Lompoc High School graduate singled home Cameron Ketchen, who led off the inning with a walk. The Arabs tied it 1-1 in the third inning. But Cayman Hoggard doubled home Felipe Gonzalez in the third inning to give Hancock the lead right back 2-1. Hoggard later scored on a two-out single from Zach Nyman to stake the Bulldogs to a 3-1 lead.

Hancock added three more in the sixth inning when Jacob Witkowski drove in Aguilar with a triple. Santa Ynez High School graduate Ryan Welker followed with a RBI-single to make it 5-1 Hancock

The Bulldogs drew six walks, including two by Ketchen.

Hancock continues its six-game home stand on Tuesday, Feb. 11 against Bakersfield. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. The Bulldogs beat the Renegades last week 10-2 .
