Hancock Baseball Ranked No.9 in Latest Regional Poll

The Allan Hancock College baseball team remained in the top 10 in the latest Southern California Poll released on Tuesday by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association. The Bulldogs slid four spots to No.9 with 196 points in the voting.

Oxnard is the new top-ranked team in the region. The Bulldogs split a two-game series with the Condors last week. Fullerton, Santa Ana, East LA and Orange Coast round out the top five.

Santa Barbara fell three spots to sixth in the region. L.A. Pierce climbed to tenth this week to give the Western State Conference's North Division three teams in the top 10.

The Bulldogs start the week tied for third in the conference standings at 5-4. They are 15-7-1 overall.

Hancock hosts Ventura (3-6, 7-14) on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., at John Osborne Field. The Bulldogs defeated the Pirates in Ventura 6-2 on Saturday behind 7 1/3 solid innings from Ryan Bower. The Lompoc High School graduate improved to 5-2 on the season to tie Tuesday's starter Nathan Thompson for the club lead in victories.

Angel Gonzalez and Angel Guillen delivered clutch two-run hits in the victory. Guillen and Ryan Bendele had two hits apiece in the win.

Hancock opens the second half of conference play on Thursday at Cuesta before hosting the Cougars on Saturday. The Bulldogs won the first two meetings against their rivals from San Luis Obispo.
