Nine Hancock Baseball Players Receive All-Conference Recognition

Nine Allan Hancock College baseball players have received All-Western State Conference North Division recognition from coaches. Two Bulldogs, shortstop Ellis Gerussi-Turner and outfielder Colby Barrick were All-Conference First Team selections, while third baseman Zach Lampreia was a Second Team pick. Pitchers Chance Miranda, Skylar Bischoff and John Thomas, as well as outfielder Colton Studebaker received All-Conference honorable mention.

First baseman Tim Mahoney and pitcher Henry Fienga, both Central Coast natives, received Gold Glove Awards for being the conference's top fielder at their respective positions.

The Bulldogs finished the season 13-23 overall under head coach Chris Stevens and 8-16 in conference play.

Barrick (pictured above), a Santa Ynez High School graduate, led the team with 23 runs scored, a .433 on-base percentage, 18 walks and four triples. The right fielder's .317 batting average ranked 13th in the conference and he tied for the conference lead in triples.

Gerussi-Turner (below on left), a freshman and Toronto native, led the Bulldogs and finished fifth in the conference with a .352 batting average. He led the conference with 13 doubles. He finished with 14 games with at least two hits and drove in a total of eight runs and hit one home run.

  

Lampreia (above on right) had 14 games with two or more hits. The Toronto native led the Bulldogs with 41 hits and 19 RBI. He finished the season hitting .320, which ranked seventh in the conference.

Miranda (pictured above), a left-handed pitcher, appeared in 15 games for the Bulldogs, including four starts. He went 2-3 with a 3.40 ERA in 39 2/3 innings.  Bischoff, a Righetti High School graduate, stepped up late in the season when he entered the starting rotation. He went 3-1 as a starter. He finished his freshman season with a 3-2 record with a 4.43 ERA over 44 2/3 innings over 12 games.Thomas threw in 12 games, including two starts on the mound. The sophomore posted a 3.82 ERA over 33 innings.

Studebaker (pictured above), a freshman outfielder from Bakersfield, finished the season hitting .279 with 7 RBI and 11 games with two or more hits.

Mahoney (pictured above), a St. Joseph High School graduate, spent some time at catcher, but a majority of the season at first base. The freshman committed just three errors over 28 games. He also hit .271 with 9 RBI at the plate. Fienga, a Cabrillo High School graduate, took the mound in 13 games for the Bulldogs. The left-handed pitcher went 3-6 and threw 57 innings.
